Investigations Section
The
Criminal Investigations Division is supervised by Lt. Barbara Ward.
She may be contacted by calling (865) 453-9063.
Six (6) officers are assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division,
which is comprised of a Lieutenant that serves as the CID Supervisor, three (3)
investigators, one (1) crime scene technician, and one (1) juvenile officer.
Officers may also be assigned to the Drug Task Force and Street Crimes
Task Force.
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is
responsible for handling those criminal investigations that require special
expertise, or because of their complexity or geographical considerations do not
lend themselves readily to completion by uniformed officers.
CID is also assigned functional responsibility in areas of organized
crime, narcotics, intelligence, and surveillance.
CID does not operate on a 24-hour basis; therefore investigators will be
assigned on a rotating basis as designated on the weekly on-call schedule
administered by the CID Supervisor.

for incidents that include, but are not limited to, the following types of
criminal incidents:
(1)
Death of a violent or suspicious nature.
(2)
Rapes or suspected rapes.
(3)
Assaults that result in serious injury or death to the victim.
(4)
Armed robberies.
(5)
Burglaries where there is excessive or unusual loss (high dollar value,
negotiable instruments, cash, jewelry, silver, etc.).
(6)
Any major disaster (where Investigators can assist in identification of
victims).
(7)
Kidnappings, extortion.
(8)
Bombings.
(9)
Thefts of a nature that the Watch Commander feels an Investigator should
be called based on solvability factors presented below, or other factors that
may be present.
