Water Plant
 The
City of Pigeon Forge only has a 4 million gallon MDG water plant with raw water
in take at Douglas Lake and Waldens Creek.
The water plant is currently under an expansion to expand its
capabilities of treating 12 million gallons a day, which should be complete
around spring of 2002. The city
currently has a system storage inventory of 6.65 million gallons.
The tanks are as follows: Dollywood
2 million gallon, Mountain View 1 million gallon, Iron Mountain 1.5 million,
Iron Mountain .50 million, Montewood 2 million gallon, McMahan Hollow Road .50
million gallon, Wears Valley .50 million gallon.
Additional raw water intake is available at the Vulcan Quarry located on
Park Road. Work preformed includes
the maintenance of raw water intakes, storage tanks, maintenance and inspection
and operation of the filter plant 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
The City of Pigeon Forge also provides Gatlinburg a million gallons of
water a day.
The
wastewater system consists of 65.6 miles of sewer line with 1,474 manholes.
Our treatment facility is operated by U.S. Filter and located on Library
Drive. While operating a 4 MDG
treatment plant they also serve fifteen lift stations and perform a very active
on going Inflow and Infiltration program. There
are 1,919 residential sewer customers and 719
commercial sewer customers. The
tap fees for inside the city for sewer is $750 and $1,500 for outside the city.
The minimum bill for 2,000 gallons is a charge of $8.32.
Over 2000 is $3.06 per gallon. Outside
the city the minimum bill is $12.48 for 2,000 gallons and $4.44 per gallon for
over 2,000 gallons.
