Ready, Set, Go!

Are you prepared if a wildland fire threatens the community of Pigeon Forge or the surrounding area?  The International Association of Fire Chiefs has developed the Ready, Set, Go! Program to help people in the wildland/urban interface play a more active role in increasing wildfire security and preventing the loss of life and property.

The City of Pigeon Forge Fire Department also wishes your vacation, your retirement or your residency here to be as care-free and enjoyable as possible.  At the same time, we want you to be prepared for the possibility of wildland fires.  The most important step is to be aware of the risk and be prepared to evacuate early.

Ready, Set, Go! is a public education program that teaches people living and vacationing in areas prone to wildland fire the elements of preparation, prevention and evacuation.  The program helps by instructing in concepts such as defensible space, fire-safe construction, fire-resistant landscaping and early evacuation.

Be safe, be prepared!  We want residents to prepare their homes using these guidelines.  We want vacationers to be ready for an evacuation if necessary.  Please contact us by phone, e-mail or fee free to visit us for an informational packet.  Our information can be found on the main Fire tab.  We would love to discuss the Ready, Set, Go! program or answer any questions you might have about the area.
